Hi I’m Evan Charrois

I’m currently navigating the fascinating world of my second year in mechanical engineering, where my passion for innovation and design takes flight. At the age of 17, I achieved a significant milestone by earning my pilot’s license, and now I’m channeling that passion into the hands-on project of building my very own airplane. Beyond the technical realm, I find joy in the tactile artistry of woodworking, creating pieces that reflect both craftsmanship and creativity. The stage and musical instruments are my other canvases, where I express myself through acting, singing, and playing both the guitar and piano. While I thrive in the realms of engineering and the arts, I also have a deep love for the outdoors. Hiking is one of my favorite pursuits, allowing me to connect with nature and revel in the beauty of the world around us. With a heart that beats for both creation and exploration, I’m on a journey of continuous growth and discovery.

Engineering

My passion for engineering stems from a deep fascination with problem-solving and innovation. The intricate challenges within the field captivate me, pushing me to think critically and creatively to find efficient solutions. I am driven by the prospect of contributing to advancements that have a real impact on society, and the dynamic nature of engineering keeps my curiosity alive, motivating me to continuously learn and apply my knowledge to shape a better future.

Building an RV-8

I’m currently immersed in the exciting project of building an RV-8 airplane, known for its aerobatic capabilities. This two-seater aircraft is designed for thrilling flights, boasting a top speed of up to 220 mph. It’s a venture that combines my love for aviation with the thrill of pushing the limits of what’s possible in the skies.

Woodworking

In grade 12, I triumphed in the Joinery competition at Skills Alberta, showcasing my precision and craftsmanship in woodworking. This experience fuelled my passion for the art and inspired me to continue honing my skills. On the left, you can see one of my current projects.
